Mr. Hernandez worked at the Texas Department of Corrections, Clemens Unit for over 30 years. He was a kind, generous and selfless man. He loved music and fishing. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Clemens Unit officers and warden.
He is preceded in death by his father, Leonardo Hernandez; sisters, Angelita Trevino and Jane Garcia and one grandson, Matthew Hernandez.
He leaves behind his family to cherish his memories, his mother, Paubla Hernandez of Corpus Christi; his children, Cynthia (Robert) Morado of Corpus Christi, Paul (Teresa) Hernandez of San Antonio, Mike (Gilda) Hernandez, Mark (Sonia) Hernandez both of Corpus Christi and Katrina Hernandez of Freeport; sisters, Rosa (Joe) Gonzalez, Petra (Gregorio) Pena and Gracie (Eddie) Cano. Also surviving is his brother, Pete Hernandez; 15 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
