Surrounded by all her children, the world lost a beloved mother and grandmother, Norma Perez, on December 1, 2022. Our heartfelt loss is heaven’s glorious gain. Norma was born in Corpus Christi, TX to Simon and Maria de Jesusa Capetillo on November 4, 1950. She attended Foy H. Moody High School and graduated in 1970.
Norma had a heart of gold and made a friend everywhere she went which in return made you feel like family. Her generosity, kindness, and compassion for others shined in everything she did. Through her seasons of life, Norma worked for Sears, Montgomery Ward and Lane Bryant. Norma proudly became a mother of four and a grandmother to four precious grandchildren. As a mother she was generous, loving, supportive, and kind. As a Grandmother, she spoiled her grandchildren with even more love, support, and endless attention. Her grandchildren were her source of great joy and gleaming pride in her life. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends whether it be a game night, attending a grandchild’s event, or just family time. Norma also enjoyed sewing, making her famous meatloaf and mashed potatoes, caregiving for others and making phone calls to loved ones whether they were near or far. Above all, she taught her family to always care for others, to love each other, and to keep your faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Maria de Jesusa Capetillo; and her siblings, Maria Cayetana Capetillo Wilmot, Simon Capetillo Jr., Santa Inez Capetillo, and Jesus Z. Capetillo.
Norma is survived by her loving children, Abel E. (Lisa) Perez Jr., Eric L. (Rachel) Perez, Melissa Leal (Jason), and Angela Perez (Andrew). She is also survived by her dearest grandchildren, Eric Lee (Arlene), Meadow Love, Ruben Matthew, and Julianna Danielle; her precious fur grandchildren, Beast-D-Max, Oakley, Jaylee, and Mittens. As well as her in-laws, George Wilmot, Adelaida V. Capetillo and Catherine Capetillo. Norma is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and godchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Christus Spohn Shoreline and Dr. Pollard.
