Mary Virginia Fagan was called to her Heavenly Home by our Lord on September 22, 2021 at the age of 99. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 60 years, John L. Fagan. Mary Virginia was born February 22, 1922, in Corpus Christi, TX, to Jose G. Almaguer and Mary G. Compton. She was the second oldest child of twelve children and was named after her mother Mary and grandmother Virginia Garza Compton. Her grandfather, James Compton, immigrated from Oxfordshire, England in 1881 and retired as a yardmaster for the Texas Mexican Railroad in Corpus Christi, TX. Her father Jose was also employed as a clerk for the railroad, she would often help her father at the train depot that was located on Alameda St. She enjoyed many train trips with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings; Maria (infant), Joe, Jr., Connie Gonzales, Willie, Delia Guerrero, Johnny, Manuel (infant), Albert, Columbia Castillo and Michael Pierre (infant), sons; Robert Joseph Sawyer (infant), Robert Eugene Sawyer and Michael Joseph Fagan.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters; Debbie (Arnold G.) Zuniga, Mary (Frank) Bishop, daughter-in-law Donna Clark, sister Alma (Wilson) Horne, grandchildren; Robyn S. (Craig) Jennings, Major Robert Sawyer, MD, Lieutenant Colonel Salvador (Lucy) Zuniga, Sergeant First Class Stephen Zuniga, Stacy B. (Staff Sergeant Ian) Wolfe and Stephanie Bishop, great-grandchildren; Tyler (Kayla) Pizzuti, Eliana, Blake and Grayson Jennings, Lucien and Samuel Zuniga, Seth Zuniga, Ava Russell and Isla Wolfe, great-grandson Maddox Williams, cousins and many nieces and nephews who lovingly called her Aunt Tati.
Mary Virginia graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1942. She worked for J. C. Penney as an elevator operator and sales girl. During WWII she was a member of the “Bond Girls” selling war bonds at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. She had a gift of helping others throughout her life. She also helped guide other women to our Holy Mother when she made her Covenant of Love at the Shrine of Our Lady of Schoenstatt Lamar, Rockport TX.
Mary Virginia loved all her family, her Catholic faith, gardening, drawing, sewing, dancing, singing and collecting vintage dolls and the years she spent selling at local flea markets. She was a born saleswoman and made many friends along the way. She will be dearly missed by her daughters although they rejoice in knowing her beautiful spirit is finally free.

Public visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel - Memorial Holly, 3442 Holly Rd, Corpus Christi, Texas on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. that same evening. Rites of a Christian burial will be celebrated at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 3502 Saratoga Blvd. on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park Corpus Christi, Texas.
