Maria D. Valdez passed away on June 11, 2011 at the age of 74 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 25, 1937 to Candida and Maria De La Garza in Restaff, Texas. Maria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and son, Tomas Valdez., Jr.
Maria leaves behind to cherish her memories her husband of 56 years, Tomas C. Valdez; daughters, Gloria (Tomas) Reyes, Yolanda Valdez, MaryAnn Valdez, Norma (Billy) Cowan, Elsa Valdez; sons, Victor (Betty) Valdez, Joe Valdez, Rudy Valdez, Adam Valdez; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her brothers, Candido, Felipe, Robert, Juan, Henry, Tony, and David De La Garza plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family members and friends.
Public visitation will be from 4:00 to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that evening. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
