with anything. Maria was the rock of the Maria Zuniga, Sanchez, 103, known by many as, “La Chula”, passed away peacefully at her home on January 22, 2023, with family by her side. She was a good wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Maria was born on January 21, 1920 to Dionicio R. Zúñiga & Maria Concepción Farias, in Port LaVaca, Texas. She was the 7th & last child of the Zúñiga family.
María married Emiliano Sanchez on June 4, 1934 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Maria was preceded in death by her parents, 6 siblings, & her husband, Emiliano Sanchez, grandson, Joe Henry Sanchez, and grand daughter, Irene Sanchez.
She is survived by her 9 children:Jesse (Elida) Sanchez, Agapito(Lillie) Sanchez, Rebecca (Armando) Lopez, of Riviera, Texas, Israel Sanchez of Ingleside, Texas, Palmira Maldonado, José Enrique (María Olivia) Sanchez, Rosie(Norman) Wheeler, Mary Ramirez, & Rachel(Kyle) Scott, all of Corpus Christi, TX . Maria has 39 grandchildren, 105 great-grandchildren, 96 great-great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great grandson, Raymond James Martinez, and one great-great-great granddaughter, Charlotte Kinsley Merritt.
Maria loved all of her children, strongly believed in discipline and let no one get away he family which has kept the family together. Maria worked most of her life as a seamstress. She also had many craft hobbies. She enjoyed having her many friends over to make hand made quilts. She was very hospitable to all people; her family, friends, neighbors, & mostly to her spiritual family. She knew no strangers.
Maria will always be remembered for her exquisite knowledge of many home remedies for all kinds of illnesses. She was called, “remedios” by her brother, Dionicio (Tio Nicho). She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 6, 1968.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Sanchez, Alfredo Lopez, Israel Sanchez, Jr., Alfredo Maldonado,II, Jose Enrique Sanchez, Jr., Frank Galvan, Jr. David (Buddy) Ramirez, Jesse Lee Ramirez, Jason Paul Ramirez, and Michael Scott.

The Sanchez family has lots of memories to keep them happy and smiling until they see her again. She will be dearly missed.
A funeral talk will be conducted at Funeraria del Angel Memorial Holly Funeral Home, 3442 Holly Road, on Friday, February 3, 2023, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
