Maria Del Carmen Morales Gonzalez

Maria Del Carmen Gonzalez passed away on March 19, 2011 at the age of 84 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 26, 1926 to Guadalupe and Carmen V. Morales. Carmen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be cherished dearly. She enjoyed being present at all family events. Family "Unity" was always important to her. She took pleasure in traveling to Oklahoma to play Bingo, as well as playing in Corpus Christi, Texas. Carmen had a green thumb and her garden was the talk of the neighbors. She would welcome everyone to her house with open arms and always offered them something to eat, especially her delicious tamales and tasty menudo. She was truly the matriarch of our family.

She was preceded in death by her children, Moises Caudillo, Mary Alice Chapa, Armando Martinez, and Maria Del Carmen Gonzalez.

Carmen leaves her cherished memories to her husband, Eleodoro H. "Lolo" Gonzalez; children, Juan (Gloria) Martinez, Sr., Aurora Maldonado, Alonzo (Cindy) Martinez, Sr., Albert (Janie) Martinez, Sr., Rosalinda Barron, Sylvia (Todd) Burkes, Irma G. (Martin) Serna, Eleodoro (Esperanza) Gonzalez, Jr., and Raynaldo (Marisol) Gonzalez, Sr.; one brother, Guadalupe Caudillo and one sister, Eluteria Garcia and one uncle Serapio De La Rosa. She also leaves behind 42 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, 21 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family would like to offer an extended thanks to Maria D. Morales and Marisol Gonzalez for the care they gave Carmen as her providers and a special thanks to her Casa de Mañana family and friends.

Honoring her as pallbearers will be her loving grandsons.

Public visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at Funeraria de Angel at 549 Cheyenne St., with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that evening.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery
