Margarita Martinez

Arrangements under the direction of Memory Gardens FunMargarita Martinez, age 88 was received into God’s Heavenly Kingdom on Sunday, July 25, 2010 with her loving family by her side. She was born on February 23, 1922 in Yorktown, Texas to the late Angelita (Gonzales) and Agapito Rodriguez. Margarita worked for 35 years for CCISD until her retirement in 1988. She instilled the importance of loving God and teaching her family the values of family unity. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Spending time with her family and enjoying the special meals she prepared for them was one of her greatest pleasures. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whom will be missed dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband, Benito Chairez Martinez, son, Reymundo Palomo, Jr.; grandsons, Esteban Ramon Fernandez, James Melvin III and Sebastian T. Hewett; granddaughter, Andrea Margarita Herrera, and son in law, Mario Fernandez, Sr. Margarita leaves behind her family to cherish her memories, her children, Sara Fernandez of Oxnard, California, Irma (Antonio) Pimentel, Elizabeth M. (Raul P.) Reyes, Roberto A. Martinez, and Ruth (Oscar) Quiroz all of Corpus Christi; and Sylvia M. (Roberto) Herrera of Kingsville, Texas; one brother, Reyes Rodriguez of Highland, Indiana; twenty-eight grandchildren, fifty-one great grandchildren and ten great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with a 7:00 p.m. prayer services that same evening. Visitation will continue Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 6102 Greenwood Drive, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.eral Home, Corpus Christi, TX.
