Lottie Mae Parker 85, of Corpus Christi, Texas, died peacefully in her sleep on March 31, 2011, at Alameda Oaks Nursing Home where she had lived for the last eight years. She was born September 20, 1925, in Taylor, Texas, the daughter of the late Henry and Willie B. Spruel. She was one of 12 children. She spent most of her childhood in Taylor, Tx and came to Corpus in the1940's.
Although Lottie struggled with diabetes and heart disease for many years she had a long and happy life. Lottie enjoyed laughing, being with her family and having fun with friends. She was very engaging and could hold your attention with good- natured banter. She touched the lives of many people with her smile and wicked sense of humor which she maintained all the way to the end. She enjoyed fishing with her sisters and brother-in-laws. She was a kid at heart, like a big teddy bear. She wasn't wealthy but rich in spirit. Lottie moved through life at her own pace. She had an enviable zest for living, she lived every day to the fullest. Lottie was employed for many years at Driscoll Hospital as a lab technician.
She was a member of Rising Star Baptist Church.
On July 13, 1971, Lottie married Andrew Lee Parker, Sr., in Corpus Christi, Tx, who preceded her in death,
She is survived by her son, Richard C. Clayton of Corpus Christi, Tx; 4 grandchildren, Leroy B. Clayton, Corpus Christi, Tx; Richard Clayton, Houston, Tx; Richard Clayton, Jr., Corpus Christi, Tx; Tameka Stephens, Sweeney, Tx; 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, family and friends; 2 sisters, Ethel M. Williams and Bobbie J. Moore of Corpus Christi, Tx.
Visitation will be Friday, April 8, 2011, from 7:00 – 9:00pm at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors, 4901 Everhart Rd.
