Kim Reynolds, a loving mother and cherished friend, passed away on June 20, 2023, in Corpus Christi, TX. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering strength that will forever be etched in our hearts.
Kim was born on January 25, 1964 in LaPorte, IN to Roger and Barbara Powell. After moving around with family, Kim found her place in Seabrook, TX where she was active in Girl Scouts, the El Lago Synchronized Swim Club, and the CLF swim team. At Clear Lake High School, she made life-long friends and helped to keep the class of ’82 connected through the years. Her commitment to service led her to join the United States Navy, where she served as an electrician on the USS Dixon and was recognized with a Presidential commendation for her invaluable contributions.
Kim’s path led her to Colorado, where she discovered the blessings of motherhood, welcoming her two children, Nicholas and Amber, into the world. Relocating to St. Louis, MO, she found employment at Mercy Health Plans, forming enduring and cherished friendships with her colleagues. In 2009, Kim moved to Brenham, TX, to support her father after the sudden loss of her mother. It was there that she created countless treasured memories with her children and forged strong connections in the community.
In Brenham, Kim worked as a teller at local banks and served in the administration of the Brenham State Supported Living Center where her dedication and compassion touched the lives of coworkers and residents alike. Recently Kim realized her passion for bringing joy to others as a front desk attendant at the Blue Bell Aquatic Center. Her radiant spirit was a beacon of light to all she encountered, and she formed everlasting friendships that will be cherished by those fortunate enough to have known her.
Kim was known for her generosity and willingness to give back. She gave her time and devotion to her country, her family, troubled youth, and those with special needs. Above all, her love and devotion knew no bounds when it came to her children who were the center of her life. Through the good times and the bad, Kim loved her kids with every fiber of her being.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Kim will forever remember her sharp wit, generous nature, and zest for life. Her love for General Hospital, "The Notebook," Hallmark movies, cruising, 80s music, and the St. Louis Cardinals brought her immense joy. Kim had an extraordinary ability to connect with people, making each person feel uniquely special.
Kim is survived by her beloved children, Nick Powell and Amber Reynolds; her sister, Lynn Crane (Bill); nephews, Kevin (Clara) and Brian Crane, and a circle of family and friends who shared in her laughter, tears, and countless cherished memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Barbara Powell; as well as her sister, Kellie Powell.
