Julia C Gonzalez

Our beloved Tia Julia Castillo Gonzalez, age 90, of Corpus Christi, Texas entered into God's Kingdom on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Julia was born to Policarpio and Rita C. Gonzalez on January 7, 1933 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Tia Julia was kind, generous, and compassionate soul. No matter the circumstances of life, Tia Julia always conveyed unconditional love to all of her loved ones. With a strong heart and deep faith, Julia took challenges head on and acted as a pillar for those in need.

As the eldest sister, Tia Julia took on the role of a surrogate mother to her younger sisters when their mother passed away, and even worked alongside her father as his assistant carpenter. Julia moved to Hebbronville, Texas, in her thirties and forged many wonderful friendships there. She was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She was an active and trusted member, participating in many different activities for the church including opening the church every morning for prayer, singing, and playing guitar with the choir, and was a Eucharistic Minister. One of her proudest achievements was to be one of a handful of women to work for Mobile Oil Company as a Uranium Field Technician. She resided in Hebbronville until 2020 when she moved to Corpus Christi to reside with her niece. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.

Julia joins her parents Policarpio and Rita Gonzalez; siblings: Felix Gonzalez, Hipolito Gonzalez, Rudolfo Gonzalez, Carlos Gonzalez, Bernarda Moreno, Gabina Bazan, and Rita Perez all in heaven.

Julia is survived by: niece and caretaker Nelda (Esiquio) Perez and her best friend Olga Carrion who was more like a sister to her; numerous nieces and nephews whom she was a beloved aunt and great-aunt to.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Everhart, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78411. Please join the family in honoring her memory at the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at St. Cyril & Methodius, 3210 SPID, Corpus Christi, TX 78415 at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery at 2:30 p.m., 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78415.
