Juan C. Cantu

Juan C. Cantu, 73, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on September 22, 2022. He was born in Harlingen, Texas on August 28, 1949. Juan graduated from Foy H. Moody High School and received his high school diploma. He married Idalinda Trevino Cantu on February 9, 2000.

Juan was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys as well as the Houston Texans and Astros. He loved to BBQ and hang out with family and friends; and crack open a cold Bud-Lite. Anyone that knew him, loved him for his positive outlook on life. Being visually impaired never prevented him from enjoying his life to the fullest. His sense of humor was contagious and he loved a good western movie.

He also enjoyed fishing and hopefully, catching Redfish to fry up for dinner. Juan was also very attached to his Chihuahua “Girly Girl” who never left his lap. He will be deeply missed and his memories will live on forever.

Juan is preceded in death by his parents, Israel and Trinidad Cantu and sister, Minerva “Minnie”.

He is survived by his wife, Idalinda Trevino Cantu; children, Adriana (Gilbert) Villarreal and Juan Rogelio (Lucha) Cantu; step-children, Refugio Jr. (Karen) Vela, Roxanne (Paul) Juarez and Randy (Esme) Vela; 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Henry Cantu, Mary (Bert) Lopez, Raul (Dora) Cantu, Lucy (Ruben) Rodriguez and Gloria (Johnny) Lopez.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
