Jovita Alaniz Vera

She was married to Vicente M. Vera, Jr.

Jovita had a career in education and worked for CCISD – 24 years, all at Lexington Elementary. She taught PreK to 1st grade. She was a member of Primera Bautista. She loved reading, traveling, gardening fishing, and her “girls.”

She is preceded in death by her husband, Vicente Vera; her parents, Jose and Victoria Alaniz; and 2 brothers, Ramon and Jose D. Alaniz.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Elma Lou Vera (Domingo Trejo), Cynthia DeLaCruz (Jerry Perez) and Audrey Vera-Rodriguez (Jose Rodriguez, Jr. – deceased); grandchildren, Krystal, Noel, Vinny, Freddy, Jerry, Victoria, John and Hailey.

She is also survived by her 12 great-grandchildren. Jovita will be missed by her 3 sisters, Victoria Alaniz, Minerva Vera, Rosemary Ramos; numerous cousins and family members.

A visitation for Jovita will be held Monday, November 28, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A prayer service will occur Monday, November 28, 2022 at 7:00 PM. A continued visitation will occur Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Primera Iglesia Bautista, 1509 Tarlton Street, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Primera Iglesia Bautista, 1509 Tarlton Street, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A burial will occur Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at 3:15 PM at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
