He was the fifth of eight children. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings.
Joseph served his country during WWII in South Africa and Italy. Upon his discharge, he married the love of his life, Olga Faye Chisamore in Mason, Texas on December 4, 1945. He had a long career with the Federal Civil Service system, retiring from NAS Corpus Christi.
He was widowed on September 29, 2009 after 63 years of marriage.
Joseph lived his whole life with the goal of serving God. He was a quiet, humble, and meek, yet strong man. He loved his family and always placed their needs above his own. He is survived by three daughters and their spouses: Elizabeth and Jim Campbell, Kathy and Stephen Campion, and Barbara and Jeff McCumber. Additionally, he has five granddaughters and nine great-grandchildren whom he loved very much. Other survivors include his wife's sister and brother-in-law, Arvilla and Martin Sturdivant and Harvey Chisamore.
Visitation will be held starting at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home stateroom on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. A Memorial Service to celebrate Joseph's life will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
