Jose S. Flores, Sr., 82, has joined his beloved wife, our mother, Delia H. Flores on Sunday, August 14, 2016. He served in the Army 37th Armor Field Artillery from 1955-1957. He worked at Caller Times for 14-1/2 years. He received his GED from Del Mar College and took vocational classes for appliance repair. He retired from Sears after 18 years. Mr. Flores was known as the neighborhood appliance repair man. He met many customers who appreciated his honesty and sense of humor. For many years Dad’s customers were his learning tools. He yearned for knowledge by meeting new people while learning about their history and sharing his in return. He worked hard his whole life to provide for his family. He had many interests including antique collecting and playing his guitar. He was a fair and simple man who was willing to share his life experiences. His greatest accomplishments in his life were his children and grandchildren. He recognized and appreciated the many blessings in his life. Dad gave us his ultimate gift which was to not take life too seriously. He is preceded in death by his devoted wife of 58 years, Delia H. Flores. His parents, Eduarda Torres Obregon and Jose Angel Flores; two children, Alejandro and Patricia Flores; his aunt, Trinidad and uncle, Fred Vidal of Kingsville who raised him; his sister, Maria Herrera and brother, Felicito Rodriguez, He is survived by his children all of Corpus Christi: Jose S. Flores, Jr., Yolanda (Joel), Sylvia (Tim), and Nelda (Anthony): 6 grandchildren: Patricia, Gabriel, Clarissa, Katherine, Marcus and Sarah. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Funeraria Del Angel- 549 Cheyenne with a Rosary at 7:00 pm that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 18, 2016 Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Memory Garden Cemetery.
