John Richard Warnke

John Richard Warnke of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on June 18, 2020. John was born in Burbank, California on July 13, 1937. He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Jean Warnke and sister, Joan.

At seventeen years old, John enlisted to serve in the United States Navy in aviation ordnance, where he served until 1979, retiring as a Senior Chief. While proudly serving his country, he forged indelible relationships with those with whom he served. Throughout his Naval career, John visited many duty stations worldwide. John was an avid fisherman with a zest for life and was quick with a story with various levels of veracity. In 1974, John married the love of his life, Martha Jane Womack, and they became a blended family with five children between the two of them. John never knew a stranger and had the innate ability to find a story for every situation.

He is survived by his sister, Susie, his wife, Martha Warnke, his five children Kathryn Costa, Pam Bernhardt (George), Christopher (Tang), John Womack, Kirby (Kristi) and eleven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd., Corpus Christi, Texas, on June 22.
