John Richard Barnes

John Richard Barnes, age 69, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024. He was a lifetime resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, and was born on December 8, 1954, to parents Jessie James and Viola Barnes.

John graduated from Foy H. Moody High School and went on to receive his Associate’s Degree from Del Mar College. He had a lifelong career in sales for Walmart and H-E-B.

John was known for his love of outdoor hobbies. He enjoyed camping and fishing. In his spare time, he could often be found tending to his garden. Above all, John was a caring person who was always known to help those around him.

John is reunited with his parents, Jessie James Barnes and Viola Barnes; brother, Jessie Barnes Jr.; and sister, Jeanette Mendoza. He leaves his memories to his nieces, Jennifer (James) Washington and Jessica (Mark) Valls; nephews. Julian (Marla) Mendoza and Joseph Mendoza; great-niece, Madison; great-nephew, Jackson; sister-in-law, Rosie Barnes; brother-in-law, Fidel Mendoza; uncle, Leo Chapa; and numerous members of extended family and friends.

Visitation will begin at 12 PM on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. A Holy Rosary will be recited that same afternoon at 1:30 PM, where a Memorial Celebration will follow at 2 PM. Services will conclude in the Memory Gardens Chapel.
