Jay Clyde Whitlock, age 88, of Corpus Christi, Texas entered Heaven's Gates on Sunday, July 3, 2022. Jay was born November 22, 1933 in Victoria, Texas to the late Kenneth Whitlock and Clyde Louise Whitlock.
Jay was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and friend but to those who knew him best, he was an exceptional person. He married the love of his life, Carol Jean and together they were blessed to celebrate 65 wedding anniversaries. Jay was fortunate to enjoy his occupation where he owned and operated a machine shop with his father and A Bar, The Town Pump, where he supported local musicians, both for 20+ years. He graduated from WB Ray High School, where he was a Border Olympic Champion and held the 440 State record from 1953 until 1990. He attended Del Mar College as well as A&I College. He was a proud veteran that served in the Unites States Army from 1958-1960. Jay had many hobbies, but his favorite pastime was to go to Las Vegas with his beloved wife.
Jay is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Clyde; aunt, Sue Griffth; and uncles, Henry Lee Griffth, and Rusty Griffth.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Carol Jean Whitlock; sons, Walter Whitlock, Jay (Delaina) Whitlock Jr., Michael (Ellie) Whitlock, and Richard Whitlock; eight grandchildren, and nine, great-grandchildren, along with extended family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 10:00am at Seaside Memorial Park, 4357 Ocean Drive, Corpus Christi, TX 78412.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Funeraria Del Angel Everhart, 4901 Everhart Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78411.
