Guadalupe G. Flores, 84 of Corpus Christi, TX passed away on May 19, 2024. Mr. Flores was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. Better known as “Welo”.
He married the love of his life, Ofelia L. Flores on May 5, 1958 and had 66 wonderful years together.
He is survived by his loving wife Ofelia L. Flores, his children, Guadalupe Flores Jr.(Janet), John David Flores(Nelda), Diana Flores Mendez(Jaime Sr.), Joe Flores; brothers, Raymond Flores, Robert Flores, Edward Flores, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great- great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas Sr. and Ramona Flores; sisters, Andrea Cantu, Lucia Govella, Sabina De La Rosa; brothers, Nicholas G. Flores Jr. and Gilbert G. Flores.
Guadalupe was a big Dallas Cowboy fan and such a jokester always making people laugh. He had a green thumb when it came to gardening. He enjoyed seeing his plants grow and flowers bloom.
In his younger days he liked to bowl and go to all the family events, most of all he enjoyed spending time with family every year at Garner State Park in Uvalde, TX. He started this tradition in 1971 and his tradition continues till this day.
Guadalupe G. Flores was a member of El Divino Salavador Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. He was a Godly man always sharing the word of God to everyone he would meet. He served as a Deacon and Elder, sang in the choir. He served at Ebenezer Presbyterian church in Taft, TX for 8 years. He also served at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Falfurrias, TX for 7 years. Guadalupe was a man of God, always willing to share the good news of bible. He gave his life to Jesus on December 1975.
He worked as an immigrant at an early age working with his family. He later worked as an assistant manager at Beals Grocery store for 20 years then opened and owned L&R Drive Inn Grocery in the Molina Neighborhood in 1970. There they served the famous “Bear Burgers”.
A visitation for Guadalupe will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A prayer service and eulogy will occur Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 7:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. A funeral service will occur Friday, June 7, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. A burial will occur Friday, June 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers are Danny Blanco, Dezi Blanco, Albert Peña, Adam Peña, Jaime Mendez, Rene Treviño, Bobby Ortiz, J.D. Flores and Mario Gomez.
