Gordon Arthur Borgh, 89 passed away suddenly on August 26th, 2015. He retired from Sun Oil Company after 35 years and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Gordon was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 15, 1926, the son of Arthur and Olive Borgh. He moved at a young age with his parents to Los Angeles, California where he graduated from Hollywood High School. He enlisted in the US Navy immediately after graduation and served aboard the USS Erben in the South Pacific during World War II. After serving his country, he joined Sun Oil Company as a Draftsman in Denver Colorado where he met his wife. Gordie moved with his wife and daughter from Denver to McAllen and then to Corpus Christi where he decided to retire. Gordon enjoyed gambling trips to Las Vegas and Louisiana and attended most of his Navy reunions across the United States. Along with his wife, Gordie was a regular walker at Padre Staples mall for many years and developed several close friendships over coffee. He was known for his kindness, generosity, infectious hugs, and sweet smile. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Gordie was preceded in death by his parents and wife of 59 years Joy. He is survived by a daughter, Sallie Jenkins of Corpus Christi, granddaughter, Jennifer Walker of San Antonio, brother, Douglas R. Borgh of Lakewood, Colorado, and sister, Donna Mae Burnette of Modesto, California. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 31, 2015 at Cage-Mills Funeral Chapel. Inurnment of cremains will be private.
