Gerald “Jerry” James Ard, age 74, passed away February 2nd 2021 from an unknown cause. He was born on January 9th 1947 to Angus and Mabel Ard in New Orleans, Louisiana where he spent most of his life and was proud to call home. A Holy Cross High school graduate, he went on to receive his bachelors degree in criminal law from Holy Cross College, New Orleans, Louisiana. He joined the United States Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam War. He returned to New Orleans after the war and served as the police chief and detective for the New Orleans Police Department. In the last 40 years of his life he was dedicated to work in the oil field industry as well as with the pipeline. Where he worked as a mud engineer all over the United States.
Jerry was a loving son, a brother, a father, a paw paw, a Marine Semper Fi, a Police Chief, a Mud Engineer, and an New Orleanian. He loved history and the outdoors. He took pride in his children and grandchildren. Jerry had a contagious smile that lit up a room. He never met a stranger, and was always there to lend a hand to those in need. He will always be remembered for his positive outlook, and the love he had for life. He will be deeply missed by all those that knew him.
Gerald James Ard is proceeded in death by his mother Mabel and father Angus Ard. As well as Edwin and Sandy Barrios.
Gerald “Jerry” James Ard is survived by his brother Kenny (Brian) Ard, his daughters Adryon Ard, Brianna Ard, and Gabrielle Ard, and the love of his life for the past 20 years, Heidi Ard. As well as his grandchildren, Joshua Branham, Jena Clements, Alyssa Clements, Olivia Hicks, and Avery Mahler.
