Frank Paul Skurka (Pancho) left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on October 22, 2018. Frank Skurka was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 23, 1932 to Frank and Ruth Skurka. He spent his formative years in Pennsylvania, New York, Illinois, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas, graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas in 1949. While living in McAllen, Texas, he met and married Patricia Marie Fink on December 28, 1951 and had five children with her as they moved to Alice and eventually settled in Corpus Christi, Texas.
He was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company/ AT&T from 1952 to 2003, a span of over 50 years. He loved his work, from installing telephone poles, being a lineman, repairing operator desk consoles, working with long distance switching machines, to working with microwave towers and fiber optics. He was a proud member of the Communication Workers of America Union for over 50 years.
He joined the military in 1951 and was a member of the Army National Guard for 20 years, retiring at the rank of Captain. He was also active in the Boy Scouts of America as an assistant Scoutmaster and a member of The Order of the Arrow.
Frank (Pancho) was devoted to his God and to his children. He gave to everyone he met. His kindness, caring and unselfishness will never be forgotten by his family and friends. He was loved by all he met.
Frank Skurka joins his deceased children, Anne Marie Cavazos (Jose) and Michael Andrew Skurka in Heaven and is survived by his remaining children, Nancy Orrick (Michael), Mark Skurka (Zita) and Paul Matthew Skurka. He is also survived by his brother, David Gerald Skurka (Pat), and sister, Sandra Hunt (Larry), as well as his grandchildren Benjamin Cavazos, Melody Ramirez, Samantha Skurka, Paul Skurka, Jr., and Christian Skurka, along with numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
