He worked for the City of Corpus Christi in Park Maintenance and retired after 20 years of service. After retirement he worked as a security guard for Eddie Garza Private Investigators. Francisco was a loving man who passed along his sense of humor to his family. He loved taking long trips with his beloved wife; some of their travels took them to Las Vegas, Colorado and Mexico. Crab fishing was one of his favorite pastimes. Francisco was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who devoted his life to his family. He will be dearly missed.
Preceding him in death are his parents and brothers, Aurelio and Jesus Octavio Hinojosa.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Odilia Atkinson Hinojosa; his eleven children, Maria E. Vela (Eladio), Victor A. (Linda), Francisco J. Hinojosa (Mary Ann), Mario Hinojosa, Diana Marie Perez (Richard), Gilbert Hinojosa (Tracey), Jose M. Hinojosa, Ana Martinez (Abraham), Alicia Rodriquez (Felipe), Angelita Hinojosa-Linan (Oscar) and Daniel A. Hinojosa; sisters, Lydia Rincon, Irma Montamayor and Nelda Navarro and brothers, David A. and Jose Angel Hinojosa. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his sons.
The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited that same evening at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
