Estella Collins

Estella Collins, 70, of Corpus Christi, was received into the loving arms of our Savior Jesus Christ August 6, 2016 at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. She was surrounded by her family.

She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on September 8, 1945 to Gabriel and Dolores Hernandez. Estella grew up in Corpus Christi and attended Del Mar College. On August 6, 1966 she married the love of her life, Joe Emmitt Collins, a Marine from Collins, Georgia. She took great pleasure in working as a Title One teacher at Christ the King School for over 20 years. Estella was passionate about helping her students, the school, and the Church. Her other passion was sewing, and was a very accomplished seamstress.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Manuel Hernandez.

Estella is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joe and her devoted children, Dolores Tullai (Daniel), Joe Gabriel Collins, Christina Wallace (Thomas), James Collins (Vanessa), Michelle Anderson (Zachary), Felicia Collins, Christopher Robin Collins (April). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Andrew Collins, Alexandria Collins, James Collins, Marissa Collins, Meriah Collins, Damian Collins, Anastasia Ruiz, Joshua Collins, Ryan Collins, Elijah Collins, Lauren Hlavinka, Damien Collins, and Katelyn Wallace, Aaron Collins and Caleb Collins. Estella is also survived by her sister, Sophia Pedraza (Pedro); nieces, Evangelina and Leslie as well as several other great nieces and nephews.

With her passing we have lost our angel on earth. Estella is now an angel in Heaven watching over those she loved.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel-549 Cheyenne. A Rosary will be recited at Christ the King Catholic Church at 1:30 pm with a Mass to follow at 2:00 pm. Services will conclude at the church.
