John 3:16 : "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" entered into
his everlasting life with the Lord on 3/16/23 . Domingo, who most knew as "Mingo"
or "Mr. Mingo" was born on December 6, 1938 in Dewitt County, Yorktown, Texas
to the late Domingo, Sr. and Orfelina Cisneros Mungia. Instrumental in his raising was
his grandfather, Felix Mungia, whom he adored so deeply and always missed.
Mingo will be remembered as an individual who was full of laughter and happy with life.
He taught his family to love God, love each other and give to others without expecting
anything in return. Mingo was a man of God and attended Weber Road Church of Christ.
He was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan and loved his Western movies which he watched
every night. In 1960, Mingo married the love of his life, Annie Reyes and they had a
family of six children.
In his determination to make a living for his family Mingo went to barber school and
obtained his barber's license and went to work at the Navy Exchange on the base
having such honors as cutting the Navy Admiral's hair and the Blue Angels pilots along
with hundreds of military personnel. Mingo was always so proud of his country and the
relationships he had built with the military personnel and Flour Bluff community.
For many years Mingo was the barber for the Flour Bluff School NJROTC program
and took great pride in preparing these youngsters for their careers. When Mingo left
the Navy Exchange he built Mingo's Barbershop on N.A.S. Drive where he continued to
serve the military and had regular visits from the Blue Angels Pilots. His barbershop is
full of autographed Blue Angels Photos that have been presented to him over the past
50 years. Mingo was also known for donating his haircuts to those that found themselves
on hard times and for being a wonderful boss to his barbers. In addition to his barber career,
Mingo had a passion for music. He was an amazing accordion player and used his talent
while he was going to barber school to make money in a musical group with family and
friends. After he retired from making money with his accordion, he continued to enlighten
his family with his accordion music.
Mingo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin
and friend. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Monica M Martinez, parents Domingo
