She worked with the first Head Start program in the city. She also worked for the Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation/Community Action Program as a supervisor. Aurora worked as a cafeteria employee at Calk Elementary. From there she went on to work with Mrs. Tyson’s Daycare as a pre-school assistant. Aurora’s interests and hobbies were many, some of which include singing, gardening, cooking, picture taking, playing Bingo and going to the Kickapoo Casino. She always found time to spend with her children and grandchildren. She was a PTA Lifetime Member, Cub Scout Den Mother, and a Little League Team Mother for her sons’ baseball teams.
Aurora is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jose Efrain Meza, Sr.; daughter, Consuelo R. Dubose; her grandson, Gabriel Meza; and sisters, Isaura V.E. Flores, Praxedis “Peggy” V. Harrison.
She leaves her loving memories to her sister, Alma V. Contreras; children, Raquel (Ramon) Zuniga, Rosalinda Meza Sabedra, Dr. Elsa Meza (John) Zaragosa, Jose (Cynthia) Meza Jr., and Javier Meza.
