Aristeo B. Martinez, also known as Eddie/El Indio, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family Thursday, September 19, 2024 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Eddie was born on February 28, 1954 to the late Antonio and Enedina Martinez.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 51 years Dahlia (Dolly) Martinez, his daughter April Garza (Lupe), his sons Aristeo (JR) Martinez, and Bryan Martinez (Rita). He is also survived by six grandchildren—Miranda Garza Solis (Marco), Aden Garza, Joshua Martinez, Jazlynn Martinez, Bryan Alexander Martinez, and Nicholas Martinez as well as one great grandson Manolo (Manny) Solis.
Eddie joined the US Army out of high school. He served in the 1st Cavalry Division. Eddie took pride in serving his country. It is a tradition that he shared with his son, son in law, and grandson. Later, Eddie continued to serve his country as an aircraft electrician for the Corpus Christi Army Depot until his retirement.
Eddie’s family was his whole world. He fiercely loved and protected his wife whom he often referred to as “My Dear”. Eddie also loved his children and enjoyed helping them in any way that he could. Above all, he adored his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He often beamed with pride whenever he would recount their accomplishments.
While he was a family man at heart, Eddie often found a family in the people he met. He never met a stranger. He could travel across the country and still find a friend. Eddie often gave his time, skills, and sometimes money to those who were in need. He was the life of the party and enjoyed his Miller Lite and Marlboros while manning the BBQ pit.
Eddie had many interests. Eddie loved fishing and hunting. He loved going out to his ranch with his boys. Eddie was an avid Houston Astros, San Francisco 49ers, and NHRA fan. He loved going to the casino with his wife and family. He had a passion for barbecuing. Eddie loved his dogs, Hemi, Nitro, and Sophie.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne, Corpus Christi, TX 78405. Burial will be at 2:00 pm at the Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery.
