She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on September 14, 1958 and graduated from Foy H. Moody High School. Amelia was married to Robert Dominguez on November 12, 1977 and enjoyed a career as a Certified Nurse’s Aide.
She had the privilege of working at Sunnybrook Nursing Home, Premier Home Health and Bay Area Medical Center.
Amelia loved casinos, playing bingo, and listening to Tejano music. She always wanted a breakfast taco, enjoyed going to the Goodwill, and absolutely loved babysitting her grandchildren. She lived for her grandbabies, and they will miss their “Momo.” Amelia had a tenacious spirit and won the hearts of many from the moment they met her. She welcomed friends, family, and strangers through her doors all her life because she simply loved people.
Amelia just wanted to be loved, show love, and enjoyed the quality time she spent with anyone. She may have been stubborn in her ways, but she had an infectious smile and laugh that made her unique. Between her charisma and outlandish humor, she would make the best out of any situation. Amelia fought through many tribulations, sicknesses, fear and pain, but her faith in God never wavered.
Amelia is preceded in death by her parents Isaias and Natalia Gaytan; brother Paul Gaytan; and sister Viola Cantu.
She is survived by her sons John Eric Dominguez (Rey Sifuentes), Robert (Raeann) Dominguez; daughters Melissa (Jesse) Dominguez-Rodriguez, Natalie (John) Balderas; grandchildren Marissa Ybarra, Lisa Ybarra, Elaina Dominguez, Gianna Dominguez; great-grandchildren Rima Trevino, Landin Trevino, Leena Trevino; sisters Connie Gonzalez, Lupe Gonzales, Carmen Munoz, Gloria Ortiz; brother Richard Gaytan; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
At her request, Amelia will be cremated. A memorial and celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
