Adrian Lamont Taylor, passed Thursday the 7th of March in the comfort of his home surrounded by his wife, Grace Crane, sister, Gloria Taylor Redding, his two children Leslie and Andrew Taylor. In his passing, he was embraced with family, love and music, and after a long fight he was finally able to rest.
The son of the late Livingston Dayton Taylor and Dora Linda Taylor and the eldest of he and his sister Gloria Taylor Redding. Known by many for his contagious laughter, smile, witty humor and great love for his family, friends, golf and music.
Adrian was a self-taught musician who began his love for music with the harmonica playing and singing of his father, Livingston. He was known for his signature unique musical blend he referred to as "Cow Jazz" and spent the past 13 years playing at Blackbeard's Too, entertaining many with his music, stories and laughter. He is also known for playing with various groups in his prior years at Cooper's Alley and The Yellow Rose. He had a deep love for music and entertaining others, and through his many years singing and playing guitar he has shown just that.
He spoke of grits and tortillas, his tribute to his parents' ethnicity and influence in his life and culture, his father, Livingston was from the rural community of Andrews, South Carolina and his mother from Roma, Texas, which lies on the border. He'd tell you he loved some grits for breakfast and tortillas with anything and how they could even be used as utensils.
Aside from music, Adrian loved to golf and spent many of his days on the green of his local golf courses. He prided himself for walking all 18 holes of the course and keeping up with the 'younger kids', and sometimes even playing better than they did.
When he wasn't singing or golfing he spent his time with his grandsons' Isaiah, Matthew, and Jaxson. Going to school performances, practices, cheering them on during games, and just beaming with pride for 'his boys'.
He is survived by his wife, Grace Crane; sister, Gloria Taylor Redding; son, Andrew Livingston Taylor; daughter, Leslie Anne Taylor; grandchildren, Isaiah J. Moreno, Matthew R. Moreno and Jaxson J. Cantu, as well as his nephew Joshua Dysart and numerous cousins and friends.
Adrian made friends just about anywhere he went, and touched the lives of many.
He will truly be missed, but we are all so blessed to have his music and memories, and with that we will always carry his memory in our hearts.
Please join us in Celebrating the life of Adrian Lamont Taylor.
