Teresa Catherine McCoy, 88, passed away March 1, 2014 with her family by her side. She was born August 1, 1925 in Louisville, Kentucky. A devoted wife and loving mother, she was pre-deceased by her husband of 62 years, James G. McCoy. She is survived by her son, Bruce McCoy (Terumi), her daughters, Janet Henze (Chuck) and Marcia Krum (Dean). She is also survived by her grandson, Ben Clark and her great-granddaughter, Isabella. Teresa grew up in Louisville, Kentucky with five sisters and one brother, all pre-deceased. She married the love of her life, James McCoy in 1947 and began her dream of raising her family. They enjoyed a wonderful life in Louisville, with her large extended family, while James began his 46 year successful career in retail. She moved to Orange County, California in 1961, when James joined J.W. Robinson’s Department Store. Her children embraced the California lifestyle and her family thrived; living in Anaheim, Newport Beach and Irvine. After her children were grown, she worked for many years at The Uniform Tree in Tustin.
Teresa was just an amazing person. She was the epitome of love. Not only did she love her family with a passion, she loved all of her family’s pets, all animals, nature, dancing, music, art, poetry and most of all, people. Teresa could turn a stranger into a best friend in a matter of minutes. She was fun, funny, compassionate, loving, honest and sweet. She was beautiful and talented. Everything she did, she did well; from water color, pen and ink, poetry, dancing and singing. She had a heart of gold and a radiant spirit. She loved all forms of entertainment from movies to plays, concerts to musicals, TV to reading. She and her sisters grew up swing dancing to big band music and she could still cut up a rug at her son’s concerts.
The last six months of her life she lived at Aegis, an assisted living home in Oceanside, California. In six months she managed to have everyone fall in love with her; from the residents, the resident’s families, the caretakers, waitresses, the chef, hairdresser, maintenance and the management. She enjoyed playing poker, bingo, WII golf and bowling, “walk and roll” and socializing with everyone. And of course, the dogs that lived there loved her and always wanted her to throw the ball! Teresa will be terribly missed by everyone that knew her but will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever. We love you mom!
