Sidney Harold Lantor, 90, of Irvine, Calif., died on March 19, 2018, after a brief illness. He was born to Oscar and Lillian Lantor on Aug. 29, 1927, in Wallace, Idaho, and grew up in nearby Burke, a mining town wedged into a canyon in the Bitterroot Mountains of Idaho. After serving in the Army during World-War II, Mr. Lantor attended the University of Washington, where he joined Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. He was in college when his father died, so he went home to run the family clothing store in Kennewick, Wash. He owned Lantor’s Men’s and Ladies Wear with his wife, Muriel Lantor, for over three decades from the late 1940s until the early1980s. They also co-owned the SL Sterling men’s clothing stores with a partner in Kennewick and Moses Lake, Wash.
Mr. Lantor lived a life of unwavering devotion, generosity and loyalty to his family and friends. He was always civic-minded, including fundraising for a cancer center in Kennewick. After retiring in 1983, he moved to Indian Wells, Calif., where he had more time for his love-hate relationship with golf. He also had a passion for playing cards and traveling around the globe, especially to Asia and Africa.
Mr. Lantor is survived by his significant other Maxine Wasserman, daughter, Linda Fandel (Gary), son, Allen Lantor, and two grandchildren, Sarah Fandel and Will Fandel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel.
