Those who knew him will always remember his keen sense of humor, his generous spirit, and his genuine concern for the welfare of his family and friends.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, his sharp intellect and thirst for knowledge led him from self-taught radio and television technician, to Electrical Engineer and founder of SEG Electronics, where he manufactured data transmission equipment for over 15 years, with projects including the Minuteman Missile and the Gemini Space launch.
He published three books: The Elements of Television Servicing in 1955, Basic Electronics in 1964, and most recently his memoir, A Harvest Reaped, in 2015.
At the age of 52, aspiring to fulfill his dream to become a physician, he attended medical school in Bogota, Colombia followed by a residency at University of California, Irvine, going on to practice Family Medicine in Orange County for almost 35 years, proudly serving a population of over 6,000 patients.
He was dearest husband of 54 years of Etta Gendler who predeceased him in 1996, beloved father of Jeffrey and Howard Gendler and Leslie Wilkof, adored grandfather of Clifford, Isadora, Rebecca, and Sophia as well as great-grandfather of Sierra and Sam, and brother of Lawrence and Paul Gendler.
