of Laguna Woods, California
Our beloved 92 year old father passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family. It was truly a gift to support him through the transition. He grew up in Chicago and graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a Big 10 Champion on the flying rings for gymnastics in 1950. After serving in the US Army during the Korean War, he moved to California and met our Mother, Anne, who preceded him in death after 35 years of marriage. They had seven children - Kenneth, Sharon, Jeanette, Robert, Kirstie, Edward, and Kathryn. And he was blessed with five grandchildren - Kenneth, Adam, Katherine, Christopher, and Matthew, who meant the world to him. As an ambitious leader, he created his own business for Mechanical Engineering and Energy Management Consulting, and was a critical advocate for the building industry regarding California energy regulations. He ran his business with 18 employees over 28 years. Whether he was taking photographs or shooting videos, enjoying church and bible study, advocating for the politics he believed in, spending time with his family, or traveling around the world, he loved life and lived it to the fullest. It is so heartbreaking to say goodbye to him, but his passion for life, family, friends, church, and community will never be forgotten. He lived his life by his terms until the very end. And he left behind a huge community who loved and adored him.
The funeral service for Dick was held on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary (FD1176), 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, California 92625. A graveside service followed in Lagunita Court overlooking the ocean.
