

Emma Jean was born Oct. 8 in Omaha Nebraska and died peacefully in her Huntington Beach home on Jan. 25, 2016 at the age of 92. Jean lived a long and eventful life. She was always proud and happy to have served as a woman marine during World War II. After that, Jean married her first husband and within a few years had her daughters Claudia and Cynthia. After moving to Santa Ana, Jean was very involved in her daughter’s activities and also became a successful realtor and was active in the Board of Realtors and the Santa Ana Women’s Club.
In 1985, Jean remarried Carl Laird, her true soul mate. From their home in Huntington Beach, they shared their love of travel and bridge, and became members of the Traveler’s Century Club after having visited over 100 countries. Jean was a longtime member of the Community United Methodist Church, the Monday Morning Club, and the local chapter of Women Marines.
Jean’s life will be celebrated on Friday, January 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the Methodist Church located at 6652 Heil Avenue in Huntington Beach, and then buried in her final resting place at Pacific View Cemetery in Corona del Mar. Jean is survived by her husband, Carl, their loving dog Eden, daughters Claudia and Cynthia, step-daughter Cindy, as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren.
