Dean was raised in Davenport, Iowa until the age of 16, when his family moved to California. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving our country through 1958. Dean then began his career in gunite construction.
Dean met his wife Frances in 1959. They were married September 16, 1961 in Long Beach, California. They spent most of their life together in Orange County, California raising their four daughters. In 1976 he began his own gunite construction company, Arco Gunite Inc. Through the years he designed and built many gunite rigs, and included the love of his work with his family while teaching them many valuable life lessons and quality work ethics.
Dean’s love and devotion to his family was the primary focus of his life. His favorite pastimes included, gardening (especially his tomato plants), hot rods, trains, and fishing. All of these things were included during their motor home and traveling excursions throughout the United States visiting family and friends.
Dean is survived by his wife of 49 years, Frances Norton. Daughters: Janine Poole, Robert Poole son in law, Tammy Counoupas, Peter Counoupas son in law, Pamela Norton and Lisa Norton. Grandchildren: Jennifer Norton, Robert Poole & Holly Poole, Natashia Norton, Mathew Poole & Fiancé Beth Cavers and Jonathan Poole. Great Granddaughter Brooke Madison Poole. Brother: Eddie Norton, Sister: Judy Norton.
Dean is preceded in death by his brother Larry Norton, his mother Geraldine Norton, father William Norton and brother Melvin Norton.
