At 18, he met the love of his life Carol (Major) at a dance at the Bob Turner Arena. After confirming he was the taller of the two, they had their first dance, he walked her home, and the sparks flew. They were married in 1973 for 51 loving years.
They had 3 children; Andrea, Adam and Michael. He was the proud grandpa and jiji of 5 grandsons.
Yvon and Carol travelled the world together. Yvon made friends wherever he went. His warm and engaging personality touched all who knew him. He brought lightness and laughter to life like no other.
Yvon was passionate about sports. He played hockey, squash and golf. He was a keen ping pong player, defeating just about any niece, nephew, child or friend who challenged him to a game in his basement. He spent many hours around a card table with his parents and siblings, playing “Gin” for a “Nickle”.
He was a dedicated father who took a keen interest in his childrens’ athletics. He spent winter evenings flooding the hockey rinks he built for his boys in their backyard. He coached many of his kids’ minor sports teams and touched the lives of countless young athletes.
Yvon passed away on Nov 11th, 2024. He was 74. A Celebration of Life will be held at Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Home – West Branch, 20 Seventh Street West (613-932-8482) on Saturday, November 16, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
