Mr. Amell was the co-founder and a retired agent with We Care 1st Amell Real Estate; and was active in his community as President of the Cornwall Township Historical Society; volunteer with Pro-Life Cornwall Pro-Vie; and Eucharistic Minister, Catechism Director and Choir Member at Blessed Sacrament Parish.
Loving husband of Paulette (née Poirier); and dear father of his 4 daughters, Cynthia (Mrs. Wasfy Boktor) of Pincourt, Québec, Michelle (Mrs. Ken Sr. Drouillard) of Tilbury, Ontario, Jennifer (Mrs. Éric Parent) of Orleans, Ontario, and Annette (Mrs. Andrew Woloszyn) of Portland, Ontario; caring Papa to 9 grandchildren, Ken Jr., Kayla, Ryan, Christa-Adeba, Michael, Jérémie, Anna, Laura, and Lily. Wilfred is survived by one brother, Francis (Kay Kyer) of St. Andrew’s West, Ontario, and 2 sisters, Bernadine (Late Jack Kavanagh) of Niagara Falls, Ontario and Angela (Late Maurice Villeneuve) of St. Catherines, Ontario; and by many close nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents, Levi Amell and Ethel Dow; by 4 brothers, Lyle (Eva Poirier), Albert (Georgette St. Denis), Hugh (Mildred Waslew & Verna Lalonde), Earl (Velma Major & Shirley Dixon); and by 2 sisters, Rita (Rene Poirier) and Ursula (Gregory Lalonde).
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, March 14 from 1:00-3:00pm or 6:00-8:00pm at M. John Sullivan Funeral Home at 341 Pitt St. in Cornwall, Ontario. A funeral mass will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Cornwall, Ontario, on Wednesday, March 15 at 11:00am. The mass will be officiated by Fr. Allan MacDonald, CC.
