It is with great sadness the family announces her passing on Sunday January 29, 2023 with family by her side, at the Parisien Manor; after a heart breaking period of mental and physical decline inflicted on her by Alzheimer’s disease
Beloved life-partner, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Ricki is survived by her best friend, light and love of her life and ‘partner in crime’ for the last 44 years, Jim Krieger, and by her son Keven Murray (Pamela), and daughter Nova Cook.
Ricki was the proud grandmother of Lance (Shannon), Shael (Ally), Raven (Waylon), Amber, Skylar, Cole, and Laila and her great-grandchildren Charlie and Xahria.
She will be missed by her special friends Sage, Sue, and Myrna. “Hey Gals!”
While no one’s life is without challenge, Ricki faced more than her share early on. Ricki’s was both brilliant and beautiful. Her wit and intellect were sharp. Her strength, character, wit, courage, resilience, and of course great taste, stood her in good stead as she forged her life as she saw fit.
Ricki was active in the creation of Yew Transition House for Women, in Sechelt, BC where she worked supporting women and children with safety and counselling, until her retirement. She was an incredibly gifted gardener, and this was one of the things she enjoyed most in life along with travelling the world with Jim, enjoying good food, wine, and art in all forms. There are too many tales to tell, and mere words cannot suffice to do a life such as her true justice. If Ricki could leave us all with words of wisdom they would no doubt be: “NI CARBORUNDUM ILLEGITIMI!”
Special and heartfelt gratitude to all staff at Parisien Manor who, with such genuine compassion and love, cared for Ricki in her final days: “DE-Luxe!”
