It is with a sad yet grateful heart to God that we announce the passing of our adored “Momma” on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the age of 98, surrounded with love and comfort, at St Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre, previously of Chateau Cornwall.
Predeceased by her husband Selby Baker, and their first born treasured grandson Matthew Baker. Her loved siblings who will welcome her home, brothers Louis Lefebvre (Jeanne) of Cornwall, Raymond Lefebvre (Rita), Rev. Simon Lefebvre, André Lefebvre ,Sisters Jeanne Coolins (late Charles) Laurette Lefebvre, Pauline MacLeod , and her parents Arthur Lefebvre and Alice (née Seguin) Lefebvre.
Survived by Brother Jean Pierre Lefebvre (Wilga) of Canberra Australia.
Cherished mother of Charles Baker (Angie) of Cornwall and Norman Baker (Mary) Calgary. Loving and devoted Momma (Grandmother) of Trevor (Jessa), Lindsay, and very proud Great Momma (Grandmother) of her name sake Harriett Lena Mary, Douglas and Jolene.
Momma’s life was filled with everything she loved beginning on December 16, 1925.The road she travelled throughout her life was always filled with kindness for others. She worked hard at everything she did and was very proud of her 35+ year career with The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation. She enjoyed her gardens, was an avid bridge player and loved the game of golf playing her last round at the age of 95, with no cart we’ll have you know!
Momma was a devout Catholic instilling her life with the values of God every day.
Our family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Chateau Cornwall for the loving care Momma received for the last three years, Elda and Carol from Carefor who went above and beyond these past few months and our Earth Angels, Sylvie, Laura, Justin, Amelie, Kelsey, Teodora, Hailey, Sue and Carm. Momma wanted more than anything to have her private room reservation at St Joseph’s Villa be her last stop until she went home to God. Thank you to St Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre for the exceptional end of life care Momma received. Although her stay was short your compassion and care will remain in our hearts forever.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Lahaie & Sullivan Cornwall Funeral Home – 20 Seventh Street West (613-932-8482) honored wishes with no visitation - The Mass of the Resurrection with Commendation and Farewell will be held on Friday March 8th at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, 434 Second Street West, Cornwall at 11:00 am. Rite of Committal will take place at a later date at St. Lawrence Valley Cemetery, Ingleside. If so desired, contributions in Momma’s memory to St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Center or St. Vincent de Paul Society would be appreciated by the family.
