VINCENT, John William – It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of John on Saturday, April 01, 2023 at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital at the age of 91 years. Beloved husband of 70 years to Mavis (née Garratty) Vincent. Loving father of Tracy Vallee (Guy). Cherished grandfather of Alexandra Evelyn Vallee (Jade) and Erin Louisa O’Donnell (Zak). Doting Great-grandfather of Nellie Rose and Xander John O’Donnell. Predeceased by parents Ambrose and Winifred (née Horton) Vincent. Dear brother to his late siblings Richard, Sheila (Harry), Doreen (Alf), and Patricia (Dennis). John was a loved friend to many. John lived an active, full, and loving life. He immigrated from England with Mavis in 1957. After settling in Cornwall, Ontario John owned and operated the Vincent Shell gas station for over 15 years. On top of being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather, John was a skilled trap shooter, bowler, and won awards for showing his hunting dogs. He had many hobbies and you could always find him hunting, golfing, fishing, and building model airplanes. He was an active member of his community with the Freemasons. Anyone fortunate enough to have met John were greeted with his kind spirit, contagious laugh, and love of life. He will be greatly missed by all. Arrangements entrusted to LAHAIE AND SULLIVAN CORNWALL FUNERAL HOME, EAST BRANCH, 614 First Street E. (613-933-2841). Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada and the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
