MIRON, Hubert - Peacefully at the Cornwall Community Hospital, McConnell Site on Friday, May 22, 2020 at the age of 95 years. Beloved husband of the late Madeleine (née Besner). Loving father to Richard Miron (Manon) of Cornwall and Diane-Miron MacNeil (Clint) of Ottawa. Cherished grandfather of Natalie Miron and great-grandfather of Tristan and Kailey. Predeceased by his parents Gurdy and Louise (née Primeau) Miron and by his brothers Ray (the late Rowena) and Gerard (Margaret). Will be lovingly remembered by Suzanne Perreault, sister in-law Marion Besner, his many, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
During Hubert’s life, he was co-owner of Miron Brothers Smoke Shop and Billiards, worked with Ontario Hydro Seaway Construction and then worked with St. Lawrence Seaway, where he retired. He was President of the Figure Skating Club, Vice-President of Minor Hockey League, Honorary member of the Cornwall Sports Hall of Fame. Proud organizer of the Cornwall Santa Claus Parade in 1950 and 1951. Also, enjoyed hosting many parties during the Cornwall Santa Claus Night parades for family and friends. In his high school days he was drummer for the Our Citizens of Tomorrow Boys’ Band, the Civil Guard Bugle Band, the City Brass Band and the CCVS Bugle Band where he lead this band counter marching on Parliament Hill.
Loved curling, bowling, watching hockey games, swimming, boating especially trips to Dundee with family and friends, ballroom dancing, cruises, travelling to sunny destinations and Florida.
His love and care for Madeleine, his late wife and for his family were an inspiration to us all. He had a heart of gold, showed a great passion for life. He will be greatly missed by all.
