Gail, Archie and Karen, we are so saddened by David's passing. A link to the past for our family, Andrew, Nancy and I is hard to accept when you remember so many family gatherings where David and my brother Andrew took such great pleasure in bugging Karen and my sister Nancy. David had such a zest for fun and carrying on, undoubtedly inherited from Archie! A family get-together was not complete without "the kids". Most regretfully David's season, enjoyed and appreciated by so many, ended far too soon.  We remain grateful and humbled by his example of enduring love, laughter and caring.

 What a tribute! If a friend of yours walked in the visitation to express their condolences without ever meeting your dad they certainly knew him when they left. His spirit was everywhere.

Dave and I were great friends in high school and I have many fond memories. It was always a pleasure to bump into him around town to reminisce. We took a trip together to Niagara Falls in the mid 80s, great times. I still remember him picking me up from College in Belleville in 85’ so I could go to the Panda game in Ottawa. For decades every time I heard the “Yes” song “Owner of a Lonely Heart” I think of Dave. We used to love doing the airband to that tune. He always had a joke ready to tell. Many fond memories playing football together for the Raiders. Douuuuuug ! We would yell.

I worked with Dave on many funerals and interments and was always  impressed by how he balanced his professionalism with his deep compassion. He genuinely cared for those left in grief - and now we grieve that he is no longer with us. I will miss everything from  his attention to detail to those jokes he would tell you so many times over. I am praying for his family and his many friends.

We have been friends with the MacDougalls long before Dave and I were born 
In the 80's Dave and I went to high school together. I ran into him one day in the hall and he said " hey can't believe I saw your mum on the city bus and she was getting you a doll" ( I was 16 BTW) 
I was so shocked by that statement I just kept walking.......clueless
I wanted a Cabage patch Doll and mum knew Zellers were getting some. Dad and I had the cars that day....it was December. She walked 2 miles to Long Sault, took a Voyagure bus to Cornwall then a City bus.......where she ran into Dave....to get dad's car. And Boom Christmas present not a surprise any more.
Dave and I still laughed about it recently!!

He was the kindest man.  When my Mum died he was the rock I needed to lean on.  It was not just his job -it was his nature to be kind.  He also had a great sense of humour and I will miss our odd chats.  A place was ready for Dave in heaven, and he was called home.
