Celebration of Life for Joe Patrick “Pat” Montgomery is set for 2:00 p.m. Sunday at West Corinth Pentecostal Tabernacle with Bro. Merl Dixon, Bro. Scott Melson and Bro. Jimmy Rich officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Joe Patrick “Pat” Montgomery died July 14, 2016 at his residence. He was born June 4, 1936 in Chalybeate, MS. to the late L.Z. and Edna Prather Furtick. He was retired from Packaging Corp. of America in Counce, TN., farmer and a member of West Corinth Pentecostal Tabernacle. He was known as a firm but loving patriarch. He instilled in his sons, nephews and other he helped raise the value of hard work and honesty. Rising by 5:00 am, he told them they could do anything, anyone else can do if they just worked hard at it. He valued family and traveled most of the United States with his wife Helen, taking them on adventures. If you were fortunate to travel with them you were likely treated to a Wendy’s Chicken Sandwich and a Frosty.
He loved God and was a faithful servant. He was an encouger to the young and old alike. He left us with the lesson, you can always tell God what you want but you ask him for his will to be done.
He is preceded in death by his wife Helen Montgomery; parents; sister Charlene Wilkins and Kathy Montgomery.
Pat is survived by his two sons, Jeff (Carolyn) Montgomery of Ramer, Danny (Jeanie) Montgomery of Ramer; five grandchildren; Angie Montgomery, Ashley (Clay) Montgomery Talley; Casey (Hannah) Montgomery, Christy Montgomery, Ryan (Louanna) Montgomery; seven great-grandchildren; brothers Allen Prather of LA.; Bob Montgomery of Iuka, MS. and Dave Furtick of Knoxville, TN. Host of other family and friends
Pallbearers will be Mark Wilkins, Terry Teague, Kenny Teague, Greg Mullins, Scotty Goodrum, Steve Hunter, Stewart Teague, Nathaniel Nooner, Stacy Teague and Chris Teague
Arrangements under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, Corinth, Mississippi.
