Due to his failing health, Harold retired from his business "Hamburger Harold's" in August, 2009, after serving the public for 51 years. He was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. He enjoyed cooking, playing golf, and being close to his children and two special friends, Bobby Murphy and Max Kimmel. He had two special nurses, Butches & Lou Lou.
Harold enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1951 where he served 14 months in active duty in Korea. He was awarded three (3) Decoration Medals and (3) Bronze Stars.
Harold was perceded in death by: his parents, William Jefferson Smith and Lillian Amanda George Smith; (5) sisters; Edna Smith, Irene Rampley, Charaline Burleson, Lillian Kinghton and Isabell Campbell, (3) Brothers, Prentess Smith, Guy Smith and Gordon Smith.
Harold is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Peggy Smith; (1) daughter, Theresa Smith Glenn and her husband Gary; (2) Grandchildren: Franz Schnabl and Cedric Schnabl; (4) Great Grandchildren: Bret Schnabl, Anna Grace Schnabl, Tyler Schnabl, and NoLee Schnabl
Pallbearers will be Gene Box, Neal Biggers, Hull Davis, Danny Boatman, Leck Counce, Little Bill Phillips, and Jerry Knighton.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gene Sanders, Keith Frazier, Joe Austin, Larry King, and Barry Drewry.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 25, 2011 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.at McPeters Funeral Directors
The Service will be Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Oakland Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Bostic officiating.
Internment will be at Henry Cemetery with Military Honors following the Service
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oakland Baptist Church Building Fund.
