Funeral services for Jerry Monroe, 84, are set for 1:00 pm Friday at First Baptist Church in Corinth, MS with Rev. Dennis Smith officiating and burial in Magnolia Gardens.
Visitation will be held Friday 11:00 am until service time at First Baptist Church.
Mr. Monroe died Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Landmark Nursing Home and Rehab in Booneville.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1963, where he was the treasurer of the Bob Moore Sunday School class. He was a graduate of Linden High School and a former member of the Air Force Reserves. He retired after 32 years from Bellsouth. He was the former President of the Communication Workers of America Union and a member of the MS Cattlemen’s Association. He enjoyed fishing, camping and raising cattle. Jerry and Doris also enjoyed making annual mission trips to help build church facilities.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Doris Moore Monroe, sons; Scott Monroe (Debbie), Kenneth Monroe (Debbie), Tim Monroe (Debbie), grandchildren; Taylor Monroe, Olivia Monroe, Mark Monroe, sisters; Nora Johnston (Jimmy), Wanda Dotson (Tony).
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Guy and Margaret Monroe; brothers, Gerald Monroe (Leola) and Charles Monroe (Rhoda).
Pallbearers, Tommy Doty, Roy Taylor, James Null, Dr. Hardwick Kay, Bill Whitehurst, Claude Dalton, Mike Tryner, Dr. Richard Alexander. Honorary Pallbearers, Bob Moore Sunday School Class, Bill Glisson, Duane Gunn.
