Funeral service for Donald Boone Brawner 87 of Biggersville at set for Friday November 7th at 11am at New Hope Presbyterian Church with burial at New Hope Cemetery. Nicholas B. Phillips will officiate.
Visitation at McPeters Funeral Home tonight from 5 until 8.
Mr. Brawner died November 4th of a short illness. He joined the U.S.Navy at age 16 where he served in the Philippines at the end of WWII. He then came home to finish school and marry his high school sweetheart. He was employed by ITT as plant engineer for 30 years. After retiring, he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, going to ballgames and tending to needed repairs of the church, family or friends in the community. He was a lifelong member of New Hope Presbyterian Church were the served as Elder, Sunday school teacher, and treasurer. He was a 32nd degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sanford Boone Brawner and Cora Dee Burnett Brawner, two brothers: James W. Brawner, Carroll Lee Brawner, and three sisters: Mary Jane Green (Loyd), Sue McDaniel and Linda McNair.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Jo Ann Bassett Brawner and three children Emily Nichols (Keith), Donna Taylor (Robert Martin), Philip C. Brawner, and four grandchildren, Beth Middleton (Bobby), Kate Bingham (Casey), Jimma Brawner, and Virgie Brawner. He was also blessed with three great-grand children. Aubrey and Oliver Middleton, Bradlee Bingham and another on the way in May. He is also survived by one sister Sammie Dee Williams (Willard).
