Salvatore F. Pagliara died peacefully at home in Parkland, FL at the age of 93. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Moore Pagliara, and 4 of his 5 children, 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 7 great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathie Sanders.
He was born in Force, PA to Joseph Pagliara and Mary Nero Pagliara, and was the youngest of 5 children. He graduated from Paterson Technical High School in 1948 and went to work as a carpenter. He also joined the navy reserve at that time and was called into active duty from 1950-1952 during the Korean War. His unit serviced the naval aircraft coming off the carriers in Jacksonville, FL. That is where he met and married Dorothy E. Moore on June 8th, 1952. Over the next 9 years the couple welcomed 5 children, 4 girls and a boy.
Over his career he built many churches and support buildings for the Catholic Dioceses of South Florida. He also built many commercial buildings. He served on planning and zoning boards for Parkland and Broward County, and also did a stint on the board of Pan Am Bank. He served as Mayor of Parkland from 1988-2003 and dedicated a good part of his life to keeping his city park-like and a good place to raise children. He loved playing golf, skiing and having a laugh with his friends and family. He will be sorely missed.

A funeral service for Salvatore will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Mary Help of Christians, 5980 University Drive, Parkland, FL 33067. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449.
