Millicent Cynthia Stewart was born in Kendal; a town in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica to Lucille (Marcel) Stephenson and Sydney Green on January 15, 1940. She attended the Kendal all-age school. Millicent grew up in Kendal and then moved to Kingston in her adult years before she came to the United States.
She married Willie Stewart, Jr. on June 18, 1977 in Detroit, Michigan. She worked as an assembly line worker for Chrysler Corporation for over 20 years.
She lived most of her adult life in Highland Park and Detroit, Michigan. She stayed connected with her Jamaican & West Indian roots. She was involved in the West Indian American Association. She lived, worked, and worshipped with others from her community. She raised her children in St Matthew's & St Joseph's Episcopal Church for many years and then joined the Vision of Victory Church. She always looked out for family and friends here in the United States and all over Jamaica. She donated time, money, food, clothing, and whatever else was needed. Millicent loved the Lord and showed that by doing his will on Earth. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crafts, sewing, crocheting, and telling the hilarious stories about her years in Jamaica.
Millicent is preceded in death by her husband Willie.
Millicent is survived by her children Glenroy McLean, Michelle Allan (Robert), and Sheila Jackson (Jason). Her siblings Oswald Hyman, Lloyd Stevenson, Hyacinth Green, Valda Hyman, Maria Green, Ann-Marie Green, and Nicolette Green. Her grandchildren are Gabriella, Ian, Andrea, Desmond, and Donovan. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be 1:00 - 3:00 PM at Kraeer Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM at Kraeer Funeral Home & Cremation Center with the Bishop Ronald Blackwood of Vision of Hope Church of God, officiating. Arrangements are by Kraeer Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
