MAREBEL “MERCEDES” MARTINEZ passed away on Saturday, August 3. Mercedes is survived by her loving daughter Louciana Mercedes Martinez, her adoring parents Bob and Diane, and by her beloved siblings Mario, Maria, Mariah, Scotty, Sam and David.
Mercedes was loving and devoted daughter of Our Lady of Guadalupe, she was a very good mom and an exceptional human being. To everyone who knew her, Mercedes was funny and sarcastic, but above all, she had a relentless spirit. Despite her long-term illness and her being confined to a wheelchair for months at a time, Mercedes always saw the brighter side of things and chose to be happy. She was a fighter, someone who did not stop and who would do anything for anyone, even in the midst of pain.
Mercedes was a stay-at-home mom, who loved to cook. Cooking for others was her way of spreading love and joy for her family and friends. Especially her famous “salsa”, this was not only her favorite but most requested by everyone. Mercedes loved to feed you and she would expect you to eat whether you wanted or not.
Mercedes took a lot of pictures in her lifetime, but we are certain that the most important are the ones that were printed in her heart, those of her beloved family, with the memories of her predeceased sister, Kristen. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon her.
The Funeral Mass will take place at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church located at 5980 University Dr., Parkland, FL at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations to be made to the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul.
