Don was born on August 4th, 1946, and grew up in a loving family in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
He served in the United States Army as a flight instructor.
In his youth, he enjoyed nice cars, boating, playing pool and was known to always be well-dressed.
He was an immensely passionate entrepreneur, starting out in the family business, ‘Reliable Extinguisher Service’ in NJ. In 1971, Don started manufacturing kitchen hood ventilation systems in NJ, then expanded his business to Florida in 1984, eventually consolidating in Deerfield Beach, Florida, under the name ‘Hood Depot International’. His lifelong dedication and devotion to his business, leadership skills and work ethics have been inspirational and instrumental to his success.
When not working, Don loved spending time with his family, watching sports, going to the casino, dining out with Doreen, and over the years, enjoyed a fun chapter of motorcycle riding.
Generally speaking, Don taught us many valuable insights, including the meaning of both gratitude and service. Even on his most challenging days, we can recall his sincerity in thanking us for being there, and asking…’Is there anything I can do for you today?’ His legacy of optimism will always be remembered!
Donald will be deeply missed by the love of his life, Doreen Hess Lubowicki; his brother Ronald Lubowicki; his daughters Judi Connor, and Samantha Lubowicki (Carmelo Pulvirenti); and his son Michael Lubowicki. He also has forever engraved his love into the hearts of his eight grandchildren Megan, Kirstin, Colin, Zachary, Kyle, Nina, Jack, and Alexa.
He is preceded in death by his father Julius Lubowicki, his mother Marie Louise Lubowicki, his former wife Elaine Lubowicki, and his sister-in-law Gwen Lubowicki.
A memorial service to honor the life of Donald J. Lubowicki will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00pm at Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1655 University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33071.
