Winnifred Elaine Sawyer Ashby

Born May 24th, 1925 in Presque Isle, Maine. Elaine passed away suddenly at her home in Copperas Cove on November 11th, 2010. Her late husband, MSG USAF retired William L. Ashby, preceded her in death as did her parents, Ivan and Clara Sawyer of Mapleton, Maine. Elaine spent her childhood in Maine and after marriage lived in Ohio, Texas, South Carolina, and for 42 years Savannah, Georgia with her Husband. She was a retail sales person for most of her life and retired in 1999.

Mrs. Ashby moved to Copperas Cove in 2005 to be with her daughter, Linda Jung. She was an invited member of the Order of Easter Star 1070 and with her many friends a Red Hatter in the local area. Elaine was a “Young” 85 and continued to be outgoing in life always looking to find the positive in everything.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Jung, a grand-daughter Jodi Jones and her husband Pat of Waco; a great-grand-daughter, Jackie Jones of Waco; Two brothers; Winnfield Sawyer of Mapleton, Maine; and Vernon Sawyer of Presque Isle, Maine, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be the evening of Tuesday, November 16th from 6 to 8 PM. Eulogy and burial will be held Wednesday, November 17th at 12 Noon with Crawford Bowers providing all Funeral services.
